All NFL teams, all but four NLB teams, the US Olympic training facilities throughout the United States, and major league hockey, all have doctors of chiropractic (DC) as members of their medical staff. I was fortunate enough in 2007 to be able to visit the USA Olympic Training Facility in Chula Vista, CA. In touring the sports medicine complex and meeting some of our elite athletes I repeatedly heard how they loved chiropractic care. Because of strict Olympic anti-doping rules, Olympic athletes are severely restricted in their ability to take prescription medications. And surgical intervention has long post-surgical rehabilitation periods which takes the athletes out of the rigorous training cycle for too long, and is avoided unless absolutely necessary. What is left is a need for chiropractic as a non-drug, non-surgical options to return the athletes back to their sports rapidly.
